Apple Pay Now Supported at 2 Million Locations

Good news for iPhone owners who don't like having to reach for their wallets to pay for goods and services: Apple Pay is now accepted at more than 2 million retail locations, Cupertino says.
According to Bloomberg, the growth of Apple Pay has seemingly surpassed even Apple's own expectations; the company targeted 1.5 million retail locations by the end of 2015. Zappos.com just enabled Apple Pay on its mobile apps this week, and other merchants like Crate & Barrel, Chick-fil-A, and Au Bon Pain are expected to roll out support for Apple Pay in their stores soon.
It's not just physical stores or online merchants that now have more of an interest in Apple Pay. According to Apple, in-app purchases using Apple Pay more than doubled in the last six months of 2015 versus the first half of the year.

That said, Apple still has plenty of ground to cover to convince holdouts that Apple Pay is worth checking out. In October, Phoenix Marketing International said Apple Pay's "growth rate has slowed down," according toReuters.
In December, however, Apple announced plans to expand Apple Pay into China via a partnership with China UnionPay.
"Apple Pay has revolutionized the way millions of people pay every day with their iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad. China is an extremely important market for Apple and with China UnionPay and support from 15 of China's leading banks, users will soon have a convenient, private and secure payment experience," said Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president, said at the time.
